C Company
Kazuto Shimizu was born in 1924 in Pahoa, Hawaii to immigrants from Hiroshima, Japan. His father was a cane planter on the Olaa Plantation.
In March 1943, Shimizu volunteered and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in C Company. He was one of five siblings and had two brothers who served in the Korean War.
After the war he worked as a Naval Architect at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
