No date (possibly January 1944)
Dear Kay─
I had some time on my hands so I just thought I’d kill it by writing.
Thanks again for the 20 bucks. Since it was a birthday gift, I got a $10 cake to celebrate. We had a nice time with plenty of this & that to eat, but nothing that would compose a meal, except maybe for the salads. Some of the livelier guys stayed up until about 4 in the morning.
I’m sending a few pictures taken a while back. I don’t believe you have any of these.
I hope everything is O.K. with you and everybody.
