Dear Helen and Farrant-
I am a little delayed in thanking you for the very enjoyable day spent with you on your beautiful island. I will always remember the soft breeze, the blaze of flowers, the Palii (?) the surf, the palms and all that goes to make a place designed for a better enjoyment of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I have a room at what was the beautiful Manila Hotel. Solid mahogany floors and trim but the ceiling leaks where a 155 came to rest. The city is in ruins but repair is going along fast. Prices are in the sky and it seems that everyone has lost the sense of money value.
