A Company
Don Matsuda was born in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating from high school in 1942, he and his family were relocated to the Heart Mountain internment camp in Wyoming. While he was working in Colorado, Matsuda learned the Army wanted volunteers for a Japanese American regiment. He enthusiastically volunteered and was inducted on August 13, 1943. He was first assigned to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, D Company, but later was sent as a replacement for A Company of the 100th.
